2nd Circuit:  Judge Had Discretion To Deny Reciprocal Discovery

Mealey's (May 21, 2020, 5:30 PM EDT) -- NEW YORK — A Second Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals panel on May 1 held that a district court that granted discovery for use in foreign litigation against a Spanish gaming company did not err in not compelling reciprocal discovery and was under no obligation to consider parity with respect to a separate foreign arbitration involving some of the same parties, noting the broad discretion district courts have under 28 U.S. Code Section 1782 (Luis Javier Martínez Sampedro v. Silver Point Capital, LP, et al., No. 19-272, 2nd Cir., 2020 U.S. App. LEXIS 14060)....
