Judge: No Federal Laws Broken In Fracking Permit Approval
(January 8, 2016, 11:48 AM EST) -- NEW ORLEANS — A federal judge in Louisiana presiding over a permit dispute pertaining to a hydraulic fracturing well on Dec. 23 ruled that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ (COE) decision to grant a permit to an oil and gas exploration company did not violate federal law (Town of Abita Springs v. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, et al., No. 15-451, E.D. La.; 2015 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 171767).
