Judge Denies New Trial In Lead Paint Case, But Cuts Damages Award By $1.2M

Mealey's (April 14, 2020, 12:21 PM EDT) -- MILWAUKEE — A federal judge in Wisconsin on April 10 denied motions for new trial filed by three former makers of lead-based paint, ruling that they did not demonstrate that they were prejudiced by the judge’s decisions during the trial.  However, the judge reduced a $2 million award to $800,000 on grounds that the original verdict failed to account for evidence that one plaintiff’s exposure was caused by lead for which no party was alleged to be responsible (Glenn Burton v.
