Federal Judge: Class, Fairness Not Shown In L’Oreal Wage Settlement

Mealey's (February 27, 2020, 12:20 PM EST) -- FRESNO, Calif. — A proposed $425,000 settlement in a wage-and-hour class complaint by L’Oreal USA S/D Inc. employees was denied without prejudice on Feb. 19 by a federal judge in California, who adopted a magistrate judge’s findings that the proposed class failed to meet certification requirements and that the settlement was not shown to be adequate based in part on the failure to even mention the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) claim in the motion for preliminary approval (Angela Conti, et al. v.
