Judge Finds Claims Against Cigarette Makers Were Barred By Res Judicata

(December 15, 2015, 12:14 PM EST) -- TAMPA, Fla. — A Florida federal judge on Nov. 16 granted a motion to dismiss filed by tobacco product makers, finding that a purchaser's claims that they targeted the African-American community with their cigarette advertising campaigns and misled the public about the dangers of smoking were barred by the doctrine of res judicata (Franklin Lee Bradley v.
