Mealey's (November 4, 2019, 11:57 AM EST) -- SAN FRANCISCO — A federal judge in California on Nov. 1 dismissed a woman from a lawsuit brought by the California Department of Toxic Substances (DTSC) that seeks recovery of $2.5 million under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act for cleanup costs the agency incurred in remediating a site, holding that the defendant cannot be held liable individually for her role as a trustee and beneficiary of the trust that owns the property (California Department of Toxic Substances v.
