Chevron: Attorney Not Allowed To ‘Inject New Evidence’ In Lago Agrio Proceedings

(November 30, 2015, 8:12 AM EST) -- NEW YORK — Chevron Corp., which was ordered by a federal judge in New York to pay a group of Ecuadorian residents $18.5 billion for damages caused by an oil consortium of which it was a part, on Nov. 18 filed a brief in the Second Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals opposing a motion for judicial notice filed by the residents’ attorney, contending that he was attempting to “inject ‘new’ evidence for the first time on appeal,” or to resurrect waived issues (Chevron Corporation v.
