Illinois Appeals Court Vacates Verdict For Orthopedic Practice In Man’s Death

(August 7, 2019, 7:59 PM EDT) -- OTTAWA, Ill. — An Illinois appellate court on July 19 reversed a jury’s defense verdict for an orthopedic practice and remanded for a new trial on the issue of damages for a patient’s death from a pulmonary embolism.  It concluded that the practice was liable after it failed to timely schedule a follow-up appointment to check on the patient’s leg cast (Susan Steed v.
