J&J Battles Consolidated Asbestos-Talc Case In New Jersey

(July 18, 2019, 2:10 PM EDT) -- NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. — Johnson & Johnson knew that it had an asbestos problem and that safe alternatives existed but chose instead to plow ahead with talc as the basis for its baby powder, plaintiffs in a consolidated mesothelioma case told a jury in New Jersey on July 15.  But earlier in the day, the company told the jury that independent authorities with nothing to gain repeatedly found no asbestos in its baby powder (Douglas Barden, et al. v.
