Michigan Appeals Court Finds State Tax Law Applies To Tobacco Company

(November 16, 2015, 1:57 PM EST) -- DETROIT — On remand from the state Supreme Court, the Michigan Court of Appeals on Nov. 3 reversed its earlier ruling and granted summary disposition to the Michigan Department of Treasury, finding that a state tax law applied to a tobacco company that owed back taxes (Lorillard Tobacco Company v. Department of Treasury, No. 313256, Mich. App.; 2015 Mich. App. LEXIS 2052).
