Illinois Federal Judge Strikes Nationwide Class Claims In TCPA Suit

Mealey's (May 15, 2019, 11:48 AM EDT) -- CHICAGO — An Illinois federal judge on May 10 granted a motion by the two defendants in a Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) to strike nationwide class claims, citing Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. v. Superior Court of California, San Francisco Cty. in ruling that “the Court lacks general personal jurisdiction over the” two Florida companies and so “the injury of the non-Illinois plaintiffs must arise out of or relate to the defendants’ contacts with Illinois” (Terrence Garvey, et al. v.
