Mealey's (March 8, 2019, 3:27 PM EST) -- WASHINGTON, D.C.— A tribunal for the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) released an award March 8 under which the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela must pay three ConocoPhillips companies more than $8.7 billion for Venezuela’s breach of a bilateral investment treaty (BIT) when it expropriated an investment by the companies in oil projects (ConocoPhillips Petrozuata B.V., et al. v. Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, No. ARB/07/30, ICSID)....
