Committee’s Vote Leaves ACA Medicaid Expansion On Life Support In Montana

Mealey's (June 16, 2015, 9:40 AM EDT) -- HELENA, Mont. — Expansion of Medicaid under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) appears dead in Montana after a 59-41 vote by a Montana House committee on March 10.

House Bill 249, the “Creating Healthy Montana Act,” sought to provide health care to low-income residents by expanding Medicaid under the ACA.

The legislation would also have implemented certain reforms, granted certain rulemaking authority and established a special revenue account.
