Reynolds Tobacco Co. and Philip Morris USA Inc. on Sept. 18 were ordered by a Florida jury to pay $1 million to a plaintiff for the loss of his mother’s companionship following her death from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) (Marc Simon v.
