Wage Class Settlement In State Court Found To Bar Federal Wage Lawsuit

Mealey's (August 31, 2018, 4:25 PM EDT) -- PASADENA, Calif. — A class settlement reached in a California state court wage-and-hour lawsuit released federal wage-and-hour claims later brought by an employee who fell within that class, a Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals panel ruled Aug. 16, rejecting the worker’s argument that an opt-out class settlement couldn’t bar an opt-in collective action (Pearl Rangel, et al. v.
