Most Charlottesville Violence Claims Allowed To Proceed Against White Nationalists

(July 24, 2018, 9:46 AM EDT) -- CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — A federal judge refused to dismiss most claims brought by residents of Charlottesville alleging members of white supremacist groups conspired to commit racial violence at 2017 rallies to protest the city’s renaming of a park.  The judge held on July 9 that under a Reconstruction-era law, the residents plausibly alleged that the defendants entered a conspiracy to deprive them of the right to be free from racial violence (Elizabeth Sines, et al. v.
