Michigan Appeals Court Orders New Trial To Assess Fault Of Nonparty Parent

Mealey's (July 9, 2018, 12:06 PM EDT) -- DETROIT — A trial court erred in denying a defendant’s request to name the father of a 6-year-old boy as a nonparty at fault in a trial over the unsupervised child’s death in a road accident at a 4-H event, the Michigan Court of Appeals ruled July 3.  The appeals court vacated a $1 million jury verdict against a fairground association and remanded for a new trial (Estate of Ezekiel D.
