Illinois Wrongful Death Case Against Union Pacific Survives Motion

(September 15, 2015, 8:20 AM EDT) -- CHICAGO — Efforts by Union Pacific Railroad Co. and a locomotive engineer to escape liability for an accident that claimed the life of a motorist were unsuccessful on Sept. 8, when an Illinois federal judge agreed to let the case proceed (Christine M. Jones v. Union Pacific Railroad Company and Steven Pignato, No. 12-771, N.D. Ill.; 2015 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 118927).
