Tribe Victorious In Fight Against Horse-Racing Machines In Idaho

(September 11, 2015, 12:49 PM EDT) -- BOISE, Idaho — The Coeur D’Alene Tribe was successful in its effort to have slot-machinelike horse-racing gambling devices banned in Idaho when the state Supreme Court on Sept. 10 granted the tribe’s petition for a writ of mandamus, finding that the governor did not timely return his veto of a bill outlawing the machines and that the secretary of state was then required to certify the bill as law pursuant to the Idaho Constitution (Coeur D’Alene Tribe v.
