(September 11, 2015, 11:22 AM EDT) -- DETROIT — A disability plan administrator’s termination of short-term benefits was arbitrary and capricious because the evidence shows that the plan administrator disregarded the opinions of the claimant’s treating doctors and failed to conduct an independent medical exam, a Michigan federal judge said Aug. 18 in remanding the suit to the plan administrator (Elizabeth Kathryn Stephens v.
