Supreme Court Grants Cert In Row Over Road Culverts, Tribes’ Fishing Rights

Mealey's (January 12, 2018, 3:38 PM EST) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Supreme Court will decide if the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals correctly held that the state of Washington must correct hundreds of fish-blocking road culverts because they violate Native Americans’ treaty-guaranteed fishing rights, according to the high court’s Jan 12 order list (State of Washington v. United States of America, et al., No. 17-269, U.S. Sup.).
