California City Drops Appeal Of Eminent Domain Action For $4.8M In Target’s Costs

(October 12, 2017, 10:13 AM EDT) -- LOS ANGELES — The city of Claremont, Calif., on Oct. 11 agreed to dismiss its appeal of an unsuccessful eminent domain action against Golden State Water Co. and will pay the private water company $4.8 million in legal fees over 12 years if the city does not file any new resolutions of necessity to begin a new eminent domain action, according to details of the agreement released by the city (City of Claremont v. Golden State Water Company, No. B280608, Calif. App., 2nd Dist.).
