Mealey's (October 9, 2017, 1:21 PM EDT) -- SAN FRANCISCO — The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) properly concluded that the Ione Band of Miwok Indians is a federally recognized tribe and that land should be taken into trust for the restoration of tribal lands so the tribe can build a casino, a unanimous Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals panel held Oct. 6 in affirming an award of summary judgment to the tribe and federal government on a California county’s challenge to the BIA’s determination (County of Amador, California v.
