California Family Code Does Not Allow Great-Grandparent Visitation, Panel Says

Mealey's (September 8, 2017, 2:38 PM EDT) -- SAN DIEGO — Ruling on an issue of first impression in California, an appeals panel on Aug. 24 affirmed a lower court’s finding that great-grandparents lacked legal standing under California Family Code Section 3104, Cal. Fam. Code § 3104, to seek visitation with their great-grandchildren and further concluded that the lower court did not abuse its discretion by ruling that the great-grandparents could not be independently joined under California Rules of Court 5.24(e)(1)(B), Cal.
