Florida Senator Introduces Bill That Would Ban Onshore, Offshore Fracking

(August 26, 2015, 12:56 PM EDT) -- TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A Florida senator on Aug. 24 introduced a bill that would prohibit hydraulic fracturing in the state and in the waters adjacent to the state.

The two-page bill would create Florida Statutes Section 377.375, which would prohibit any person from engaging in hydraulic fracturing or well stimulation.

The bill, introduced by Democrat Darren Soto, would also prohibit any person from disposing of related materials and byproducts of hydraulic fracturing or well stimulation treatments.
