Insurer: Sovereign Immunity Bars Insured’s Claim For Benefits Breach

(August 19, 2015, 11:22 AM EDT) -- SAN ANTONIO — An insurer sued for damages by a woman who contends that her claim was wrongly denied recently appealed a trial court ruling contending that it is entitled to sovereign immunity based on its relationship to the woman’s employer, which is a government entity through which she received her health benefits (Humana Insurance Company v. Dolores Mueller, No. 04-14-00752, Texas App., 4th Dist.).
