New Mexico Judge Awards Insured $27M For Uranium Contamination At Mine Site

(August 12, 2015, 6:00 PM EDT) -- GALLUP, N.M. — A New Mexico state judge on Aug. 3 awarded an insured mine operator more than $27 million for environmental contamination cleanup costs after a jury concluded that the policies at issue provide coverage for the releases of uranium and other radioactive materials from the mine (Santa Fe Pacific Gold Corp. v. United Nuclear Corp., et al., No. D-1113-CV-9700139, N.M. Dist., 11th Jud. Dist., McKinley Co.).
