Judge In GM MDL Denies Broad-Based Order Protecting Pretrial Discovery Materials

(August 12, 2015, 11:45 AM EDT) -- NEW YORK — The federal judge overseeing the multidistrict ignition-switch litigation against General Motors LLC (New GM) on July 24 denied the automaker’s request for a broad-based order enjoining the use of pretrial discovery materials for nonlitigation purposes (In re: General Motors LLC Ignition Switch Litigation, No. 14-md-02543, S.D. N.Y.).

U.S. Judge Jesse M. Furman of the Southern District of New York found that “a more limited protective order addressing specific concerns raised by New GM is warranted.”
