Judge Dismisses Case Dealing With Fracking Earthquakes, Defers To State Agency

(April 6, 2017, 1:18 PM EDT) -- OKLAHOMA CITY — A federal judge in Oklahoma on April 4 dismissed a lawsuit brought by the Sierra Club against three hydraulic fracturing companies related to seismic activity that the club contends is the result of the companies’ practice of injecting fracking waster into the ground.  The judge concluded that the Oklahoma Corporation Commission (OCC), the body that regulates oil and gas activities in the state, was better suited to rule on the case (Sierra Club v.
