Government: Opt Out Doesn’t Trigger Coverage, Violate Religious Beliefs
Mealey's (June 12, 2015, 11:48 AM EDT) -- OKLAHOMA CITY — Contraceptive coverage is required by federal law and not plaintiffs’ opt out from the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) mandate, the latter of which is part of the nation’s long history of allowing third parties to stand in for religious objectors, the government told the 10th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals on June 24, 2014 (Reaching Souls International Inc., et al. v. Sylvia Mathews Burwell, et al., No. 14-6028, 10th Cir.).
