Insurer Correctly Determined Claimant Is Entitled To Only Partial Benefits, Panel Says

Mealey's (August 5, 2015, 11:04 AM EDT) -- MINNEAPOLIS — A disability insurer correctly determined that a physician is entitled to only partial, not total, disability benefits because the policy clearly states that an insured is not totally disabled when he or she is able to perform at least one of his or her principal duties, the Minnesota Court of Appeals said Aug. 3 (Cheryl A. Hansen v. The Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co., No. A14-1703, Minn. App.; 2015 Minn. App. Unpub. LEXIS 740).
