(December 7, 2016, 10:42 AM EST) -- DETROIT — A Native American tribe filed a brief on Nov. 29 asking a Michigan federal court to deny a motion for sanctions brought against the tribe’s counsel by a health insurance provider, arguing that the law firm’s contacting of subpoenaed third parties did not violate federal procedure and was not a tactic to delay proceedings in a lawsuit brought under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) (Little River Band of Ottawa Indians, et al. v. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, No. 2:15-cv-13708, E.D. Mich.)....
