Hospital Group, HHS Battle Over Proper Remedy For Medicare Backlog

(November 15, 2016, 12:35 PM EST) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — Hospitals and their industry group told a federal judge in the District of Columbia on Oct. 14 that he should impose specific remedies to correct the “systemic failure” of the Medicare appeal process, while in a Nov. 7 response, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services argues that the plaintiffs sought “drastic” relief in light of the fact that recent changes will resolve the program’s backlog (American Hospital Association, et al. v.
