Plan Defendants Argue Plan Is Not Bound By SSA’s Disability Onset Date

Mealey's (November 4, 2016, 1:42 PM EDT) -- RICHMOND, Va. — A district court misinterpreted a disability plan’s provisions when it determined that the plan and its administrator are bound by the disability onset date determined by the Social Security Administration (SSA), the plan defendants argue in a Nov. 2 brief filed in the Fourth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals (Jesse Solomon v. Bert Bell/Pete Rozelle NFL Player Retirement Plan, et al., No. 16-1730, 4th Cir.).
