Corroded Coil Was The Proximate Cause Of Ship Sinking, Insurer Argues

(November 1, 2016, 12:02 PM EDT) -- ATLANTA — A district court erred in determining that a policy’s corrosion exclusion does not bar coverage for the sinking of a ship because it is clear from the evidence that a corroded coil was the proximate cause of the ship sinking, an insurer argues in an Oct. 24 brief filed in the 11th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals (IAG LLC v. National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh, Pa., No. 16-10580, 11th Cir.).
