Tribe Allowed To Intervene In Another Tribe’s Challenge To Casino Plans

Mealey's (October 26, 2016, 12:40 PM EDT) -- FRESNO, Calif. — A California Indian tribe trying to build a casino on land taken into trust by the federal government can intervene as a matter of right in a lawsuit recently filed by another tribe seeking to halt the casino project, a federal judge ruled Oct. 24 after finding that the federal defendants may not adequately represent the intervenor tribe’s interests (Picayune Rancheria of Chukchansi Indians v.
