Michigan Governor, Employees: Flint Lead Water Claims Fail; Immunity Applies

Mealey's (October 14, 2016, 12:07 PM EDT) -- DETROIT — The employees of the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) and Gov. Rick Snyder on Oct. 3 filed a brief in Michigan federal court contending that claims brought against them by a group of residents concerning lead-contaminated drinking water in Flint, Mich., should be dismissed because they are precluded by the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) (Myia McMillian, et al. v.
