School Tells 8th Circuit ACA Mandate, Opt Out Violate Religious Practices

Mealey's (July 17, 2015, 12:57 PM EDT) -- KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The process of opting out of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA)’s contraceptive mandate effectively exempts a religious employer from compliance and does not substantially burden religious exercise, the government told the Eighth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals on July 9 (The School of the Ozarks Inc., d/b/a College of the Ozarks v. United States Department of Health and Human Services, et al., No. 15-1330, 8th Cir.).
