9th Circuit Affirms Ruling Ousting 66 People From California Indian Tribe
Mealey's (September 23, 2016, 11:31 AM EDT) -- PASADENA, Calif. — The Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals on Sept. 20 affirmed a federal judge’s decision upholding the Bureau of Indian Affairs’ disenrollment of 66 members of a California Indian tribe, holding that the agency’s ruling was not arbitrary, capricious or an abuse of discretion, despite “inconsistencies and inaccuracies” in the evidence (Albert P. Alto, et al. v. Sally Jewell, et al., No. 15-56527, 9th Cir.; 2016 U.S. App. LEXIS 17170).
