En Banc 9th Circuit Affirms Conviction Under Indian Major Crimes Act

Mealey's (July 15, 2015, 11:40 AM EDT) -- SEATTLE — An en banc Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals on July 7 affirmed a defendant’s convictions and sentence under the Indian Major Crimes Act (IMCA), which authorizes federal jurisdiction over certain crimes committed by Indians in Indian country (United States of America v. Damien Zepeda, No. 10-10131, 9th Cir.).
