California Bill To Disclose Large-Volume Water Users Defeated In Legislature

(September 7, 2016, 12:46 PM EDT) -- SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A California bill that would have made public the water usage rates of large-volume customers was defeated 20-15 on Aug. 19.

In March, Assemblyman Mark Stone, D., 29th Dist., introduced an amendment to the California Public Records Act that would make publicly available water usage rates of industrial, institutional and commercial users.

The bill, Assembly Bill 1520, passed the Assembly and Senate judiciary committees but was voted down Aug. 19.
