Indian Band Cannot Halt Power Line Project, Nevada Federal Judge Says

(August 29, 2016, 1:23 PM EDT) -- RENO, Nev. — A Nevada federal judge on Aug. 26 denied an Indian band’s request to halt installation of a power line through “traditional cultural property” of the band that was recently deemed eligible for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places, finding that the band is not likely to succeed on its claims that allowing the power line violates federal law (Battle Mountain Band of the Te-Moak Tribe of Western Shoshone Indians v.
