Oklahoma Tribal-State Water Settlement Retains State Control, Gives Tribes A Voice
(August 12, 2016, 2:17 PM EDT) -- OKLAHOMA CITY — A water rights settlement announced Aug. 11 between two Native American tribes and the State of Oklahoma gives the state jurisdiction over water and water rights in the tribal settlement areas but allows both tribes to review and comment on proposed changes to water rules (Chickasaw Nation, et al. v. Mary Fallin, et al., No. 11-927, Oklahoma Water Resources Board v. United States, et al., No. 12-275, W.D. Okla.).
