Doctor Sentenced To 46 Months, Ordered To Pay $2M For False Diagnoses

(July 14, 2016, 10:40 AM EDT) -- WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A federal judge in Florida on July 7 sentenced a doctor to 46 months in prison and ordered him to pay $2.1 million in restitution for providing false diagnoses for patients who chose to enroll in the Medicare Advantage program, a voluntary system that allows Medicare beneficiaries to enroll in health insurance plans sponsored by private insurance companies (United States of America v. Issac K.A. Thompson, No. 15-cr-80012, S.D. Fla.).
