Insured: Drilling Rig Exclusion Is Absurd And Unenforceable

(July 12, 2016, 8:03 PM EDT) -- NEW ORLEANS — A drilling rig exclusion included in an excess insurance policy for an oilfield service contractor can’t be enforced because it “leads to absurd consequences,” the contractor argues in an appellant reply brief filed May 11 in the Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals (Raylin Richard v. Dolphin Drilling et al., Offshore Energy Services, Incorporated v. Valiant Insurance Company, No. 16-30003, 5th Cir.).
