Judge: ACA Supports Sex Discrimination Claims By Those With Gender Dysphoria

(July 11, 2016, 3:00 PM EDT) -- NEW YORK — Plaintiffs with gender dysphoria properly allege that New York’s bar on related cosmetic procedures and necessary gender reassignment surgery and hormone therapy for those under age 18 constitute sex, but not disability, discrimination, a federal judge held July 6 (Angie Cruz, et al. v. Howard Zucker, et al., No. 14-4456, S.D. Calif.; 2016 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 87072).
