After De Novo Review, Federal Judge Denies Treatment Coverage

(July 11, 2016, 2:17 PM EDT) -- BOSTON — A Massachusetts federal judge on June 30 granted Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts HMO Blue Inc.’s (BCBS) motion for summary judgment in a case in which a guardian sued BCBS under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act over its partial denial of benefits for mental health treatment (Stephanie C., et al. v. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts HMO Blue Inc., No. 13-13250, D. Mass.; 2016 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 85273).
