9th Circuit: California Failed To Negotiate In Good Faith With Tribe Over Casino

Mealey's (June 24, 2015, 10:32 AM EDT) -- SAN FRANCISCO — An en banc Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals on June 4 affirmed a lower court’s summary judgment decision in favor of the Big Lagoon Rancheria in its suit alleging that the State of California failed to negotiate in good faith for a gaming compact under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA) (Big Lagoon Rancheria v. State of California, Nos. 10-17803, 10-17878, 9th Cir.; 2015 U.S. App. LEXIS 9312).
