Board: Refinery’s Objection To Fracking Permit Fails; Risks Not Demonstrated

Mealey's (July 8, 2016, 2:40 PM EDT) -- HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Environmental Hearing Board (EHB) on July 7 dismissed an appeal brought by a refining company that challenged the EHB’s decision to grant a resident a permit to drill hydraulic fracturing wells for oil and gas under an active oil and gas refinery, ruling that although the company raised legitimate concerns about the decision, there was insufficient expert testimony to demonstrate actual risks associated with the drilling operation (United Refining Company v.
