Liquidator Wants Reinsurer To Make Direct Payments To Insured

(July 7, 2016, 12:55 PM EDT) -- HARRISBURG, Pa. — The liquidator of an insolvent insurer asked a Pennsylvania court on July 6 to approve the liquidator’s recommendation that a reinsurer be allowed to make direct payments to one of the insolvent insurer’s insureds (In re: Reliance Insurance Company in Liquidation, No. 1 REL 2001, Pa. Cmwlth.).

Reliance Insurance Co. was placed into liquidation by the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court on Oct. 3, 2001, and the court appointed the state’s insurance commissioner as liquidator.
